DESCRIPTION:
For me autumn is a special season. You can feel when it is coming: the air begins freezy; the light changes dramatically and all the nature changes its colors. What I want to represent in my work is the particular and intriguing atmosphere that is typical in this season: you can feel the warmth of the sun, with the relaxing view of red and yellow trees. Everything seems really comfortable. At the same time the pale sun, the fog give us a sense of mistery. In my image I want to recreate this complex but magic atmosphere, that I experienced sometimes during our autumn explorations in the countryside.

Raw Render

My final render

For the fog and the rays I used corona volumetric material.

I made some color and litght adjustments in photoshop.

All asset in the scene (vegetation, rock, architecture) are modeled by me.

Final model:

I completed the scene. I modeled the ivy and then scattered the trees, the rocks, the leaves and the grass all around the model.

Vegetation:

After modeling the house, I needed to add the vegetation, the most important part. So I prepared:
- the trees (birch and maple, three version for each);
- a younger versione of the birch;

All assets are modeled by me.
- different rocks (I used the same models both for big rocks and small gravel
- dead leaves
- some stems of grass

Modeling

Some work in progress of the modeling part. First I modeled the house: I keep it simple, because I planned to have a quite distant view. I added some details like the table, the pergola and the roof (all model made by me). Then I modeled the terrain: a simple surface with noise and displacement modifiers. Last I choose the view and added a Corona Camera.

First step was to gather more reference images as possible. My idea is to represent both the colorful beauty and the mystery of autumn. In Italy we have a lot of forests full of ruins, houses, cabins (unfortunately generally they're generally abandoned), that we usually visit during fall, in our weekend trips. Some photos are taken by me in an old mine next to Amalfi.
