Aralia elata, the Japanese angelica tree, Chinese angelica-tree, or Korean angelica-tree, is a woody plant belonging to the family Araliaceae. It is known as tara-no-ki in Japanese, and dureup-namu in Korean. It is sometimes seen in the wild as a small upright tree growing to 25 feet tall. In home gardens, it is more often seen as a large shrub growing to 18 feet tall. The bark is rough and gray with prickles.
